Today I played as an anonymous player quite an interesting endgame (could and should have won it/been better in the middlegame, around move 40 I should have lost it). At around move 50 we reached an bishop versus knight endgame, and my only hope was shielding my pawn from the white knight and use the bishop as a means of protecting against the white pawn mass. Despite mistakes and certain untried resources from both sides the general pattern of play left a deep impression upon me, showcasing the potential power of bishops over knights. Also, I'm glad to have played such a game given the time control (0+4).

Perhaps, more than anything, this endgame showed the importance of an active king. That could have contributed more to the result and quality of play than the material imbalance.
