Manners

I'm relatively new here so I know little about this site and what is "normal" here. That being said I wonder why it is so uncommon to find players willing to give a rematch or resign a game they are leaving. I realize not everyone here speaks English so I don't always expect communication (actually with Google translate I've had conversations in languages I don't know at all) though it isn't all that hard to hit the gg or gtg, etc. What gives?
Im also insulted like once in three days. It is very important for these people to win, to destroy you, etc, so if they lose they feel irritated and so they leave the game to waste your time or insult you.

But i don't think is wrong that they don't give you rematch, that's acceptable imo. They may have to leave, or they want a more real rating by playing different opponents all the time
hi jbark

welcome lo the lichess community. I hope you will have a lot of fun and find new friends here aswell.

On lichess there are many nice People who are ready to study, play, anaylze games,- or even talk with you.

You have all possibilities here to live your chesslife. It includes simuls, many chessvariants, many strong Players to learn from, etc.

These are the light sides of lichess.

On the other Hand, like on every other chess site, cheating with engines, rude words outgiving and dont care about fair play are
here at home too at some Point.

But that is online chess Business.

Enjoy the good sides and dont care about the bad ones too much.

best wishes
Some play just one game for several reasons:

- Short on time
- Want to play as many people as they can

I normally don't talk or chat with others, and I only ask for rematches when I have the time. For me, I don't talk due to the language barrier, and I like to focus on the game itself.

When I do talk, it is normally to people I know irl or someone I played chess with a ton.
I rarely meet unkind people here. In fact it's the friendliest community I have ever been in. Of course there are some exceptions now and then, but as I said, it's quite rare.

But I have to say that I am not offended at all when someone decides not to chat with me.
One of the reasons I left chess.com is because players would get abusive if they didn't get their rematch.
