Ok, first of all, online harassment is the norm. (It's bad, it shouldn't be!! - yes, but, not the point) I receive it, you receive it, race and gender doesn't matter.
You can block and report, even making mocking post is fine. There is moderation, just use the tools given to you.
You managed to notice a crucial flaw - and now I think that there should be a way to block a person from even spectating. Some of these creeps may totally make anyone lose concentration.
Second - women receive more harassment. Why? Because you also receive more attention as well.
Don't make emphasis on your gender, then you won't receive such attention. You may also turn off the chat in the settings, or go into Zen mode, or whatever, although I do that at times.
(edit: the less you have on your profile, the less will be used against you as an insult; at some point I just removed my country flag because I was tired of dealing with bshit, though report system is working)
Third - that federation "Women in chess" is about OTB games. It's not about lichess, where you can just turn off the chat or keep low profile. Did you play OTB a lot? If so, had something bad like that happened to you?.. I'm genuinely curious

Exactly. Anyone. It's not your inclusive problem.
edit: but if you want to JUST play chess, you can disable the chat, for example. So it's your choice... then be an adult and block bad people.
edit 2: and yes, it's not your fault, but there are measures to deal with the problem you still required to use. Otherwise literally 1984. Autonomous censor and stuff.
