Block ads and trackers

To help everyone to stay safe on the Internet, I added this page to Lichess:

lichess.org/ads

Any important resource I missed?

@nickthedragon It means exactly what it says. Install uBlock Origin like lichess.org/ads recommends.

And yeah Blokada for Android is fantastic!

Many thanks, @thibault . I had ABP on my computer, but I have noticed it really didn't work as well as it ought. uBlock looks like it will be a marked improvement. We all should try to take time to appreciate everything that you and your devs have done to build a site 100% dedicated to chess, while keeping outside influences to a minimum.

@thibault this may be a tad off-topic, but what is your view on the Brave Browser? I know Lichess is a verified Brave creator. What do you think about the browser's privacy and advertising features?

I don't like that Brave encourages people to expose themselves to ads willingly. It's quite insidious. I think all the options listed in lichess.org/ads are superior.

I only made the account so people stop asking me to. I won't accept any ad money.

@thibault I'd recommend Zenmate Web Firewall for Chrome, as it not only blocks ads but also blocks malware and trackers, too! I love it.

What to do about the pages that say "you must turn your adblocker off or you are not allowed to read this site"? I keep running into those when searching for something on Google and it's extremely annoying.
