Seperate autopairing rating

I don't know about ratings but if they play rated games people should never be able to choose the colour. I mean the colour must be random.
Curious - any news here?!

I am looking to do a series of autopairing bullet videos from this site. It means I can't be accused of choosing potentially much weaker opponents, etc.

Also it would be a nice feature for the site generally to have simple buttons :

1 3 5 for autopairing without much thought to choosing an opponent - and where it is on a seperate rating to underline one didn't choose opponents oneself.

Cheers, KC
It's very near the top of the todo list. There's currently two things above it on the stack of large developments, but it may still be a while before it becomes implemented.
I'm really glad to see that implementing something like the pools on ICC is on the radar here. For me, the pools on ICC are the one feature that really makes ICC attractive.

I would like to throw my hat in the ring as suggesting either a 2 0 or 3 0 implementation off the bat, as 1 0 is too silly-fast for me, and 5 0 is really slow for me, but I may be in the minority there :)

Also, on the subject KingsCrusher and Clarkey were discussing about the rating differences between regular blitz and pools on ICC, the main reason is actually related neither to a different rating system nor the different pairing system. Far fewer players play in those pools, so being in, say, the top 20 puts you much lower along the bell curve in the 3 minute pool than in the blitz category, and since the mean rating and standard deviation are more or less fixed by the system, that means the top 20, even if they're the same players, will have lower ratings. Of course not being able to abort games, choose opponents has some effect, but those effects are smaller than the effect for the number of players.

Back on the subject of implementing the Arena, I don't know how much of the concept is already set in stone, but it might be more straightforward to just put a player in the pool with initially a very small rating window of opponents who match, and every 5 seconds or so they wait the window expands.

That would allow pairing based on rating, which makes the most sense to me, while also not making higher rated players wait forever if there's no one in the pool similarly rated.

At any rate, just a thought, and so long as something like pools are implemented, I'll be very happy.

Thanks!
