Should the Marathon Blitz event ideally be 3 minute chess instead of 5 minute?!

Hi all

I think othe servers for key events e.g. the ICC open usually use the 3 minute time control which helps reduce the impact of any engine abusers or "centaurs".

I have created a straw poll here :

Please vote on it, and feedback welcome here
Pretty sure we're already planning for the next one to be 3+0. Won't be until the next change of season of course. :)
Thanks Clarkey - BTW Overall I really enjoyed the event and many thanks to all that helped create it and manage it.

A huge round of applause from me!

Cheaters can and will cheat, no matter the time control - even at bullet.
3 minutes is even harder for the average player, let alone beginners.

Stick with 5 minutes, I'd say.
Or 3/2, the official FIDE blitz time control.
It's not difficult to cheat with 3 min time control; probably even easier. I agree with De_Schruuv -> 3 mins is harder for the average player.
I liked the event as it was, the only niggle was losing about 5 games due to not moving (the window didn't pop up and took time to open through the link) though being charitable we will say this was due to the heavy strain of such a popular event.

I watched KC for an hour or so near the end, his head was clearly scrambled by that time but it was entertaining none-the-less. The highlighs were a game that he asked "On a scale of one to ten how enetertaining was that game?" and bursting into uncontrollable histerics when matched with a player that bezerked him and had an impeccable record against him.

Good times...

I wonder who played the highest number of games in the tourney and think they should get a special medal.
#1 I like the 3+0 idea, or 3+2 to match FIDE. But really, don't expect it to change the amount of cheaters, as #4 said.
The only time control that would probably take an hit on (some of) them is 0+1, but for the rest they can cheat just as fine.
We created a nice community where the vast majority plays fair games, and we daily reduce the numbers of cheaters by blocking them; that said, making it impossible for cheaters to cheat is not going to happen anyhow. When it comes to turning on an engine it's only up to the players, they will eventually be blocked, but certainly not prior to the violation happening.
I agree with the opinion here that 3 min is harder for an average player , I "hate" bullet chess, allow me to say even I disrespect it, I cannot think for moves when playing, (this somewhat applies for 5 min also ,but it is the lesser of two evils ) I understand the matte of cheating, (I report many players in this marathon who I suspect they are cheating ) but also you have to understand you cannot make something 100% perfect, you have to have things in balance ,5 min is a perfect choice in my opinion for this kind of marathon ,I would prefer 3+2 , but this also not a good choice because you deprive the big dogs from using the berserk !
I'm an average player. I thought about 10 or 15 min Chess Marathon. Cheaters should be eliminated by software.

P.S.
I voted for 5 min or more.
